Building the Foundation of Arts in our Community!!
Starting February 11th, 2020 The Cold Lake Arts and Entertainment Society(CLAES) will be offering a drama workshop to youth ages 7 to 12 years old.
The main purpose of this workshop is to give youth an opportunity to explore the performing arts in a fun and safe environment. Participants will be introduced to theatre fundamentals, character development, trust /team building and improvisational skills. This is a 8 week workshop that will end with a live showcase April 4th open to family and friends by donation. The class will meet every Tuesday from 5:30 – 7:30pm. This schedule may increase as we near the production date.
Why is performing arts important?
It is no secret that the arts and culture in the Lakeland area has been thin, to say the least. With small unincorporated pockets of talent there was never a venue for the gathering of like-minded individuals … until now. The CLAES offers something very unique to this community. Not only do our patrons get a fun night out to the theatre, but the participants in the productions create friendships, develop skills, strengthen confidence as well as help establish strong identity that assists in overall mental and emotional health. A vivid arts and culture sector within a city strengthens the community, assists in closing the age gap between young and old as well as creates a healthy and more empathetic collective.
